[00:20.26]recently did a survey in the United States

[00:23.23]about drugs and children and teenagers.

[00:27.06]The ONDCP interviewed more than 25,000 children

[00:32.29]and teenagers from 9 to 17 years old.

[00:36.40]The focus of the survey was on the things

[00:39.35]that help kids to keep away from drugs.

[00:42.28]They called them "anti-drugs".

[00:46.22]Children and teenagers said their most

[00:48.08]important personal "anti-drugs" were their

[00:51.29]families, sports,volunteer activities,

[00:54.91]and hobbies such as music and dancing.

[00:58.75]Many children also said that their personal

[01:01.56]beliefs and life goals help to keep them

[01:04.88]away from drugs.

[01:07.03]In the survey, many teenagers and children

[01:10.33]mentioned their families as their main

[01:14.64]This shows the influence of adults on teenagers

[01:18.81]"The words and actions of parents, or other

[01:21.69]adults, are very helpful in keeping children

[01:25.27]away from drugs,"said an expert from the ONDCP.

[01:30.73]According to the ONDCP,

[01:34.05]parents can help their children to keep away

[01:36.24]from drugs by encouraging them to develop

[01:40.91]hobbies and take part in free-time activities.

[01:44.31]These activities can become

[01:46.13]their children's "antidrugs".
