[00:44.03]I:Dr Smith, you're a sociologist who has studied success.
[00:50.51]What do you think are the most important factors in success?
[00:56.02]S:Obviously no matter what field you're in, you have to have energy and ambition.
[01:03.22]I:Do you also have to have a lot of natural talent?
[01:08.83]S:Not necessarily.
[01:12.86]Research has shown that the people who get to the top

[03:06.01]Today she is the head of a college in Stanford University.
[03:11.95]She is the first woman and the first African-American
[03:17.53]to fill that prestigious position.
[03:21.35]I:She is certainly an inspiration and an example of courage and self-discipline.
