In a related development, a group of primary school students from Beijing traveled to London to put a Peking Opera version of the western fairy tale the Adventures of Pinocchio on the stage in London.
60 students from Beijing's Zhong-guan-cun No.1 Primary School in Haidian District staged the opera in the Mermaid Conference and Events Centre in London as part of a series of the Chinese New Year celebrations in the U.K.
The Adventures of Pinocchio is a classic of children's literature and well-known across China.
The show on February 8th is the first debut outside China of the Peking Opera rendition of Pinocchio, a work done by the school last year.
Teachers at the school said the combination of a western classic fairy tale with a traditional Chinese art form had provided a way for children to appreciate traditions.

The opening of China's new Antarctic research base is yet another step forward in the country's ambitious plan to study Antarctica.
The Tai-shan station is the fourth such base built by China. It will be used for scientific observation, accommodation, power generation, storage, machinery maintenance, communication and emergency shelter.
The station also has oil storage installations and equipment to support a 400-tonne inland transportation vehicle fleet.
With 95 percent of its land covered by snow and ice, Antarctica boasts rich mineral resources, and the surrounding seas are full of bio-resources under its continental shelf.
The colossal deposits of natural resources help explain the territorial bickering by a number of countries and the fact that dozens of countries now operate seasonal and perennial bases on the frozen land.
A latecomer to Antarctic research, China has made stunning headway in the past three decades.
The country launched its first Antarctic expedition in 1984, and inaugurated the Great Wall station the following year, more than eight decades after Argentina opened the first continually staffed base.
