The script of this programme 本节目台词

William: Hello, you’re listening to William and this is Authentic Real English.

Jean: I’m Jean and today William and I are discussing the important issue of getting hitched.

William: So we’re talking about getting hitched. G.E.T.T.I.N.G getting hitched: H.I.T.C.H.E.D hitched.

Jean: 是的,今天我们的话题是 getting hitched 就是结婚。

William: Oh, no, not more wedding talk!

Do all young girls dream of getting hitched?

Jean: Oh come on, don’t you like weddings William?

William: Well no, it’s not that it’s just that every girl I’ve ever met seems to be obsessed with getting hitched.

Jean: William 他认为所有的女孩子都是 obsessed with getting hitched. Obsessed 着迷的。

William: Well, it’s just how it seems.

Jean: Well of course we are. Every girl likes to dream about her wedding day.

William: Ah… including you, Jean?

Jean: Hmmm… 让我们听听下面的几位朋友给我们讲讲 if they were looking forward to getting hitched.

Examples:

Well I’m already hitched, but I was pretty excited in the run-up to my wedding and I have to say it was a brilliant day.

Actually, I’m getting hitched next year. I can’t wait to be a wife. I’m really looking forward to married life.

William: Well the first person is already hitched but they did say they enjoyed their wedding day.

Jean: Yes and the second person is really looking forward to getting hitched.

William: What do you think it means to hitch two things together Jean?

Jean: To hitch two things together, that means to join them together, I think.

William: Yeah, so when two people get hitched they’re joining together in matrimony.

Jean: Joining together in matrimony. 结合到一起开始一段婚姻。

William: Ok, now that really is enough wedding talk. I refuse to spend any longer talking about people getting hitched.

Jean: Ok William, let’s leave it there.

William: We do hope that you have enjoyed today’s programme.
