BBC地道英语:Ditto 同意

2012-03-15来源:和谐英语

Dan: Hello and welcome to another Authentic Real English from BBC Learning English. I'm Dan.

Feifei: 大家好,我是冯菲菲。

Dan: Feifei, I need a holiday.

Feifei: Ditto.

Dan: I'd love to go somewhere hot.

Feifei: Ditto.

Dan: But I can't get the time off work.

Feifei: Ditto.

Do you want to go somewhere hot too? Ditto!

Dan: Feifei, why do you keep saying ditto?

Feifei: Because it's our Authentic Real English phrase this week. Ditto – it means me too or I agree. Ditto 这个词的意思是同意,或是同意某人的一个说法。

Dan: Oh, ditto. Ditto's a phrase you hear a lot in the UK. It's a good quick way of saying you agree with something.

Feifei: But when I said ditto earlier, I wasn't agreeing that you needed a holiday. I was saying that I need a holiday.

Dan: Yeah, ditto usually reflects the opinions or desires of the person saying it. Let's listen to an example.

Example

A: I'll have the mushroom pizza please.

B: Ditto; same for me.

Dan: So the person saying ditto also wanted a mushroom pizza.

Feifei: Ditto 这个词不仅仅可以用来表示你同意某人的看法,我们来听下面这个例子。

Example

A: Too many sweets can be bad for your teeth. Ditto chocolate and sugary drinks.

Dan: In the last phrase ditto meant the same; too many sweets can be bad for your teeth. And so can too much chocolate, or too many sugary drinks.

Example

A: Too many sweets can be bad for your teeth. Ditto chocolate and sugary drinks.

Dan: Right Feifei, I'm going to book a holiday.

Feifei: Ditto. Don't forget to check out bbcukchina.com for more Authentic Real English.
