The Morezine ski resort in the French Alps turned to birds of prey to capture a crowd.
So they teamed up with a bird breeding sanctuary to borrow some raptors for display.
Caretakers hopes the birds on vacation take advantage of a romantic setting.
We have so few birds of prey in captivity,
but if we want to have a good brood line,we have to breed them and to learn how to breed them better in the future.
Breeder Jacques Olivier Travers looks after eagles,vultures and owls at the sanctuary,teaching them to hunt outside of captivity.
Falconer and biologist Ava Marais helps out.
We really focus on reproduction of big raptor which are disappearing into the wild.
So at the end,we hope to reproduce a lot of animals in order to exchange with the other park, you know, then may be to put them into the wild.
Visitors can learn about birds of prey,and even become raptor handlers for a day as they hike the mountains.
Here we’re already in contact with nature.
It’s calm.

There’s no noise.
So were happy here with animals were not used to seeing,
and we have an opportunity to follow a path with them in nature and in the forest.
Travers says the plan is to conserve and reintroduce into the wild,birds that have been absent from this region for centuries.
The goal for me was to do everyday,and to show to the audience what I do normally alone in mountains with my animals,
just for training and just to give them some pleasure.
Travers founded his bird conservatory in 1996,fifteen of the raptors were displayed at the ski resort.
