fond用作表语与定语的用法

1. 表示“喜爱的”“爱好的”,通常只用作表语。如:

We’re very fond of opera. 我们很喜爱歌剧。

She is fond of him but doesn’t love him. 她喜欢他,但并非爱他。

I’m very fond of Elgar’s music. 我很爱德艾尔加的乐曲。

He is very fond of his mother. 他很爱他的母亲。

She is passionately fond of tennis. 她热爱网球。

She has many faults, but we’re all very fond of her. 她虽有许多缺点,但我们都很喜欢她。

She likes all her grandchildren, but she’s especially fond of Peter. 他喜欢所有的孙子孙女,但特别宠爱彼特。

表示喜欢做某事,其后习惯上不接不定式,而接of doing sth。如:

He is very fond of playing the guitar. 他很喜欢弹吉他。

He was fond of drawing when he was a child. 他还是个孩子时就喜欢画画。

My young nephews are fond of playing practical jokes on me. 我的几个小外甥都喜欢对我玩恶作剧。

2. 表示“慈爱的”“深情的”等,通常只用于名词前作定语。如:

She has fond parents. 她有慈祥的父母。

A fond mother may spoil her child. 溺爱的母亲可能把孩子惯坏。
