Nicholas Tse: It is a pleasure to sing for the 2008 Olympics

After a three hour flight, Tse spoke to reporters without a trace of fatigue on his face. Tse is not being monetarily compensated for his participation; even travel expenses are self-paid, but the singer spoke with unabated passion about his contribution. "The money is nothing. I am quite surprised and feel very fortunate to have been selected to participate out of so many Chinese singers. I am extremely honored to take part in the Olympics, to make a contribution to my country."

As for the song itself, Tse confessed that he felt a bit scared and pressured. Although the lyrics were wonderfully written, incorporating the ideas of the Olympic spirit, this type of song is very different from his usual style. But, without any trouble, the veteran performer held his own, completing the recording in one night.

When asked about his favorite Olympics event, Tse replied that he felt a special bond with volleyball. The final of the women's 2004 Olympic volleyball match took place on the same day of Tse's birthday. Tse, who was shooting a film in Beijing at the time, was completely attracted by the game. He even stopped his birthday celebration to follow the competition, waiting until the Chinese team took gold. He has great hopes for all athletes in 2008, emphasizing that each competitor has put forth much effort to be a part of the international event.
