Republic of Korea beats Iran 3-1 in Olympic qualification tournament

(BEIJING, June 7) -- The team from the Republic of Korea improved their record to 3-3 at the Olympic qualification tournament in Tokyo by defeating the team from Iran 25-18, 25-20, 22-25, 25-22 on Saturday. The match was completed in one hour and 43 minutes. Moon Sung-Min of the Republic of Korea led the winners with 15 won points.

"In recent matches we could use our style effectively," said head coach Yoo Jung-Tak after the team's victory, as reported on Fivb.org. "Individual players have their own role in the court, and I was satisfied with their play because they did their job, one by one."

Captain Choi-Tae Woong also expressed satisfaction with the win, saying that overcoming the Iranian's serving strategy was the key to the match.

The Iranians now have a record of 1-5 in the tournament, with one match to play. "In the third set the game started to go our way but we could not use that well," said Iranian head coach Zoran Gajic in a press conference, "Still, I am very happy we got one set and I am very satisfied with my young players."
