China beats Olyroos 1-0

2008-07-22来源:
(BEIJING, July 21) -- A late goal from substitute Zhao Xuri lifted China to a win over Australia on July 20 and gave his new coach Yin Tiesheng a good start. Yin recently took over from Ratomir Dujkovic as the new manager of the Chinese Olympic men's football team.

Dujkovic, who was also the head coach of China's national team, was stood down as the head coach of the Olympic team on July 19 after the national team failed to make it to the Asian division's third qualification round for the 2010 World Cup. Vladimir Petrovic was recently removed as the managing coach of the national team.

Yin is nicknamed "iron ball" because of his tough demeanor. He was once the head coach for China's U-17 team in 1991, which won the U-17 Asian Championship, and he was also the coach of the U-20 team from 2004 to 2005.

This is China's second straight win after it beat Malaysia 4-0 on July 13. China's Gao Lin missed two chances in the first half and was replaced by Jiang Ning at the 60th minute. This move, along with sending Zhao Xuri on at the 66th minute, proved vital to the result.

After receiving a right-wing ground pass at the 80th minute, Jiang Ning shielded the ball from an Australian defender and set up a fabulous chance for Zhao Xuri, who put the ball into the back of the net.

China's captain Zheng Zhi started the game, but was replaced by Zhao Xuri at the 66th minute. China will play another Olympic warm-up match against Serbia on August 27.
