BEIJING, April 16 (Xinhua) -- China on Monday confirmed the safety of Chinese citizens during attacks in Afghanistan on Sunday.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Weimin made the remarks at a regular press briefing.
According to media reports, Taliban suicide bombers launched attacks on the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) command in Kabul, the parliament and across the diplomatic area, causing heavy casualties.
China has taken note of relevant reports, said Liu, noting that Chinese embassy staffers as well as Chinese agencies and personnel are safe in Afghanistan.
"We sincerely hope that Afghanistan will realize peace and stability at an early date," he said.
