体坛英语新闻:Australian Nikki Garrett finishes fifth in UNIQA Ladies Golf Open
CANBERRA, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- Australia's Nikki Garrett came fifth as English veteran Laura Davies won her third UNIQA Ladies Golf Open title in Vienna of Austria, Australia's media reported on Monday.
Garrett shot a 71 in the third and final round of the tournament at Golf Club Foehrenwald in Wiener Neustadt of Vienna to finish at 208 overall, three shots behind Davies.
The 26-year-old Australian had shared the lead with three other players after the opening round after shooting a 66, but could not repeat that effort in the third and final around, according to Australian Associated Press.
The win was Davies' third in 2010 and adds to her two titles in Austria after victories in 2007 and 2008.
The 46-year-old, Davies who also finished second at this tournament in 2009, becomes the oldest tournament winner in Ladies' European Tour history and has now claimed 75 career victories.
Sunday's result went right down to the wire, Davies birdieing the final hole to complete a round of 70 and secure a one-shot win from France's Virginie Lagoutte-Clement.
"I was shaking," Davies told Australian Associated Press on Monday,
"It's your legs; your legs go. If your hands and your arms go then you're in trouble but you feel your legs getting a bit shaky.
"I guess that's just the adrenaline and you're just excited about trying to win a golf tournament. If you didn't have that then you wouldn't win."
