体坛英语新闻:Vasco da Gama defeats Goias 3-2 in comeback win
RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- Host to Goias in the 27th round of the Brazilian Championship, the Vasco da Gama soccer team won on Friday 3-2. The come-from-behind victory gives Vasco da Gama their second straight win.
Goias scored first in the 7th minute of play when Felipe spun around the defense and drove the ball past a diving goalkeeper Fernando Prass.
Vasco da Gama tied the match in the 25th minute. Ze Roberto passed the ball off to Eder Luis in front of the goal, having only to tap the ball into the open net to score.
Goias reclaimed the lead before halftime when Valmir Lucas dropped the ball to Jones who then blasted the ball into the left side of the Vasco da Gama goal.
The home team returned to the field in the second half to win the match. The team scored the tying goal in the 63rd minute after Max cleaned up a rebound, blowing the ball into the back of the net. The team scored the go-ahead goal in the 82nd minute Ze Roberto quickly turned on the defense and pounded the ball past a helpless Goais keeper, Harlei.
The win provisionally improves Vasco da Gama to tenth place with 36 points. In the 28th round of play, the team will travel to play at Atletico-PR on October 5.
Goias remains in a troubling eighteenth place with 25 points. In the next round of play, the team will host Cruzeiro on October 6.
