体坛英语新闻:Rooney could be out for two weeks
LONDON, Jan. 1 (Xinhua) -- Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney could be sidelined for two weeks due to the left ankle injury picked up in the Saturday's 2-1 victory against West Bromwich.
Alex Ferguson, manager of the Premier League leaders said, "it looks as though he (Wayne Rooney) is out for a couple of weeks."
Rooney opened the score for the Red Devils with a header after three minutes, completing his first goal in open play since March 2010. However the English international hobbled off late in the match after being tackled by Chris Brunt.
Manchester United are now joined by the Man City at the summit on 41 points, but Man United got two more games in hand. The leaders will host Stoke on Tuesday.
