国际英语新闻:Egypt rules out Israeli-Palestinian summit on Monday
CAIRO, Jan. 3. (Xinhua) -- The Egyptian Foreign Ministry Sunday dismissed reports that Egypt will host a tripartite summit of the leaders of Egypt, Israel and Palestinian National Authority on Monday, according to Egyptian official MENA news agency.
The meeting, scheduled to be held in Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, is a bilateral one, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Hossam Zaki, adding it would be attended by Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas.
Zaki said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would not attend the summit.
Earlier on Friday, Palestinian official said Egypt is exerting efforts to hold a summit meeting between Netanyahu and Abbas in Cairo.
Abbas is due to visit Sharm el-Sheikh on Monday for talks with Mubarak on peace efforts and the latest developments in the Middle East
