国际英语新闻:Iran to try three U.S. hikers soon: prosecutor
TEHRAN, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Tehran's prosecutor Abbas Jaafari Dowlatabadi said Wednesday that the files of three U.S. hikers have been sent to the court and they will be tried soon, the official IRNA news agency reported.
"The court in charge of investigating the case will be held soon," Dowlatabadi told a press conference on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Iran freed one of the three detained U.S. hikers, Sarah Shourd, on bail of 500,000 U.S. dollars and she immediately left Iran for Oman.
Dolatabadi said Sarah Shourd is required to attend her trial session. "If she fails to attend the court, the bail money will be confiscated."
The three Americans were arrested in Iran on July 31 last year for illegally entering the country from its western borders and were charged with espionage last November. The U.S. government considered the charges totally unfounded.
