国际英语新闻:White House denies Clinton, Biden swap in 2012
WASHINGTON, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- The White House on Wednesday denied a report that claims the Democratic Party is considering putting Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on as President Barack Obama's running mate in the 2012 presidential election.
Legendary Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward earlier told cnn that the option of Clinton swapping job with Vice President Joe Biden was "on the table."
Robert Gibbs, the White House spokesman, told reporters Wednesday that Obama is satisfied with both Biden's work as VP and Clinton's as Secretary of State.
The rumor of them swapping is "absolutely untrue. It is not anything that has been discussed here," said Gibbs.
Clinton, who ran unsuccessfully against Obama in the 2008 Democratic Primary, has repeatedly said she has no plans to run for president again.
Pundits have been speculating about a possible Obama/Clinton ticket in 2012, and since Obama's support has been declining among women, such a ticket could potentially raise his profile among female voters in the next presidential election.
