国际英语新闻:Myanmar announces more series of election results
YANGON, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- The Myanmar Union Election Commission Saturday announced more election results in its series which show that 137 more candidates won parliamentary seats at three levels, of which parliamentary house of representatives- elect account for 39, house of nationalities-elect 22 and region or state parliament representatives-elect 76.
Of the 137 parliamentary seats announced in Saturday's series, the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP), led by current Prime Minister U Thein Sein, swept 111 seats, in which 35 with the house of representatives, 15 with the house of nationalities and 61 with the region or state parliament.
Still more election results are yet to be announced on the next day, the commission said.
In the Nov. 7 general election, a total of 29 million population across the nation were set as eligible to cast ballots.
Nationally, a total of over 3,000 parliamentary candidates from 37 political parties including 82 independents took part in the competition across the country's seven regions and seven ethnic states.
