国际英语新闻:Hamas committed to calm to avoid another new war on Gaza
The Hamas-ruling enclave has recently witnessed a significant wave of violence. Gaza militants escalated their rockets attacks at Israel, while Israel intensified its airstrikes on several targets belonging to Hamas, though the militants who fired the rockets are not affiliated to Hamas.
Habib ruled out that the recent violence would intensify in the near future, adding that "both sides, Israel and Hamas, will stick to the current truce despite violence and instability here and there."
"Israel considers the truce with Hamas as one of the most important fruits of its last war waged on the Gaza Strip, therefore, escalation is not in the interest of Israel to calm the international community," said Habib.
He added that Hamas believes that escalation is also not in the interest of the Gaza people who suffer poverty and weak economy due to the ongoing Israeli blockade.
However, the observers keep asking the question that would Hamas be able to control the minor radical groups who keep firing rockets from the Gaza Strip at southern Israel, mainly Sunni groups who are affiliated with the international a-Qaeda Organization.
