国际英语新闻:ECB president says global recovery confirmed by central bankers
BASEL, Switzerland, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Central bankers had confirmed a global-level economic recovery from the financial crisis, European Central Bank (ECB) chief Jean-Claude Trichet said here on Monday.
Trichet made the remarks following the regular Bank for the International Settlement (BIS) bimonthly meeting, which gathered central bankers around the world.
"It is confirmed at the global level, the world economy has demonstrated the capacity to behave better than the previous projections and forecasts," Trichet said as chairperson of the Global Economy Meeting, a sideline event to the BIS meeting.
In particular, Trichet highlighted the impressive performances of the emerging economies in contrast with the advanced economies.
However, he also warned of the inflationary risks, which he regarded as a "general feature" in the emerging world, while they were not yet well-observed in the advanced economies.
"The solid anchoring of inflation expectations is considered by all of us, as something which is important," the ECB president said.
It is the second time that the central bankers have collectively voiced their concerns on price stabilities. On the last BIS bimonthly meeting held in November 2010, "a unity of purpose in terms of anchoring inflations expectation" was first mentioned by the central bankers.
