国际英语新闻:France's Vivendi sells NBC stake for 3.8 bln USD
PARIS, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- French telecom giant Vivendi said Wednesday it has sold its remaining stake in NBC Universal to U.S. General Electric (GE) for 3.8 billion U.S. dollars.
"Vivendi has concluded ... the sale of the remainder of its stake in NBC Universal, a 12.34 percent stake, for 3.8 billion U.S. dollars to GE," the group said in a statement.
Following the recent transaction, the French media and entertainment group has garnered a total of 5.8 billion U.S. dollars from the U.S. company after selling last September 7.66 percent of its NBC shares worth 2 billion U.S. dollars.
"We are very satisfied that our strategic objective to exit NBC Universal has been completed ... Vivendi now has control of all its assets and is fully focused on pursuing its profitable growth strategy," said Jean-Bernard Levy, CEO of Vivendi.
Vivendi employs 49,000 workers in 77 countries across the world. It reported a 4.8-percent growth in its adjusted net income to 2.21 billion euros (3 billion U.S. dollars) for the January- September period in 2010.
