国际英语新闻:Yemeni president urges Mubarak to search peaceful solutions with opposition
SANAA, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh on Friday urged his Egyptian counterpart Hosni Mubarak to search for peaceful solutions with opposition and to restore security and stability in Egypt, the official Saba news agency reported.
On Friday, President Saleh talked with Egyptian President Mubarak over phone, the two leaders discussed the bilateral cooperation and issues of common interest. President Mubarak briefed the Yemeni president on the latest development in Egypt.
On Thursday, around 20,000 anti-regime protesters took to the streets in a "day of rage" in the capital Sanaa demanding Saleh to step down.
Saleh had announced Wednesday that he will not seek another term when his term expires in 2013. He also promised to froze the constitutional amendments that could allow him to stay as president for life.
