如何理解定冠词用于独一无二的事物前

许多语法书上都说在世界上独一无二的事物的名词前要用定冠词，但事实上世界上独一无二的事物很多，比如China, Japan, London等都是世界上独一无二的，但它们前面不能用定冠词；另外，从哲学角度看，世界上任何一个事物都是独一无二的，但并不是说所有名词前都可以用定冠词。一般英语语法书在谈到“在世界上独一无二的事物的名词前要用定冠词”时，其中“独一无二”的事物主要the earth (地球)，the sea (海洋)，the sky (天空)，the sun (太阳)，the moon (月亮)，the solar system (太阳系)，the galaxy (银河系)，the universe (宇宙) 等少数情况。如：

The sun can damage your skin.  阳光能损伤皮肤。

The immensity of the universe is difficult to grasp.  宇宙的浩瀚难以捉摸。

The sea got very rough and the boat capsized.  海上波涛汹涌，小船翻了。

Copernicus concluded that the earth goes round the sun. 哥白尼断定地球围绕太阳旋转。

the brightest members of a dense cluster of stars at the Galaxy’s centre.  银河系中央一个密集星团中最耀眼的几颗星

We can assume that the moon will continue to go around the earth until the end of time.  我们可以认定月亮会一直不停地继续围绕地球旋转。

The spacecraft is set to throw new light on to a dark corner of the solar system.  这艘宇宙飞船可能会让人们对太阳系中的一个神秘角落有更新的认识。
