“动词+介词to”的常见搭配  

add (…) to 增加,给……增加(添加)  

This adds to our difficulties. 这增加了我们的困难。  

He added the wood to the fire. 他给火添加木柴。  

It adds to my pleasure to see you here today. 今天在这里见到你我格外高兴。  

admit to 承认  

He admitted to the murder. 他供认了谋杀罪。  

He admitted to having taken the money. 他承认拿了那笔钱。  

【注】有时可省略其中的介词 to。如:  

He admitted (to) opening my letter. 他承认拆过我的信。  

agree to 同意  

He agreed to the plan (the date). 他同意了这个计划(日期)。  

We agreed to their arrangement. 我们同意了他们的安排。  

I was forced to agree to it, but at heart I didn’t quite agree with it. 我被迫答应,但内心并不完全同意。  

amount to 等于,共计,共达  

The cost amounted to $500. 费用共达500美元。  

His remarks amounted to criticism of me. 他的话等于是批评我。  

This amounts to cheating her. 这等于是欺骗她。  

apologize to 向……道歉  

Apologize to your sister. 去给你姐姐赔个不是。  

I’ve come to apologize to you. 我来向你道歉。  

apply to 向……申请(请求);适合于;运用到  

He applied to them for help. 他向他们求助。  

What you said doesn’t apply to me. 你说的不适合我。  

You can’t apply this rule to every case. 你不能将这条规则运用到所有的情况。  

compare … to 把……比作  

Life is compared to voyage. 人生好比航海。  

Shakespeare compared the world to a stage. 莎士比亚把世界比作舞台。  

devote … to 把……奉献给,致力于  

He devoted himself entirely to music. 他把自己完全献给音乐。  

He devoted his life to promoting world peace. 他一生致力于促进世界和平。  

lead (…) to 通往;把……领往  

All roads lead to   Rome  . 条条道路通罗马。  

The girl led her little brother to school. 那个女孩领小弟弟去上学。  

Chance led him to   London  . 偶然的机会使他来到了伦敦。  

limit … to 把……限制在(到)  

Try to limit your talk to ten minutes. 请尽量把话在10分钟内讲完。  

I shall limit myself to three aspects of the subject. 我仅探讨这一问题的三个方面。  

You ought to limit your activities to recording the facts. 你的活动应限制在记录事实的范围内。  

listen to 听,听信  

They refused to listen to the old man’s counsel. 他们不听老人的劝告。  

He would rather listen to others than talk himself. 他宁愿听别人谈而不愿自己谈。  

object to 反对,不喜欢  

He objects to being treated like a child. 他讨厌被当成小孩子看待。  

Some members of the committee objected to our proposal. 有些委员反对我们的提案。  

occur to 想到,想起  

An idea has occurred to me. 我有主意了。  

It never occurred to her to ask anyone. 她从未想到问问他人。  

owe … to 把……归(功)于;欠  

I owe my life to you. 全亏你我才能活下来。  

She owes her success to hard work. 她把成功归因于辛勤工作。  

Pam still owes 5 dollars to me. 帕姆还欠我5美元。  

I owe an apology to him. 我应该向他道歉。
