A female Sacramento police officer has been shot and killed while responding to a domestic disturbance. Authorities say the suspected gunman fired at police as they tried to rescue officer Tara O'Sullivan.

Former White House Adviser Hope Hicks refused to answer questions before the House Judiciary Committee behind closed doors. Democrats are threatening to go to court to fight the administration's claim that executive privilege can stop former Trump officials from testifying.

And severe weather has torn roofs and uprooted trees in Greenville, Texas, northeast of Dallas. Local media reports that two spotters saw suspected tornadoes near the town.
