President Joe Biden left the White House for Atlanta Friday morning, three days after a white gunman killed eight people, most of them women of Asian descent, in three massage businesses.

Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will meet with Asian American state legislators and other community leaders about racist rhetoric and actions against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. 

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced relaxed COVID-19 guidelines for schools on Friday, saying some students can safely sit just 3 feet apart in the classroom as long as they wear masks.

A judge said he won't delay or move the trial of a former Minneapolis police officer charged in George Floyd's death. Concerns have been raised that a $27 million settlement for Floyd's family could taint the jury pool.

With nominations set and just over a month until showtime, more details were announced Friday about the 93rd Oscars. Neither sweatshirts nor zoom made the cut. The producers have said they are committed to holding an in-person event at Union Station in Los Angeles for nominees, presenters and limited guests.
