Officials in Germany have fined the carmaker Porsche, part of the Volkswagen Group, nearly $600 million over the deeds of emission scandal. Public prosecutors said Porsche had been negligent from 2009 in ensuring nitrogen oxide emissions did not break regulations.

Georgia has become the 6th US state to ban abortion after six weeks of pregnancy, a stage in which the mother may still not be aware that she’s pregnant. Civil rights groups say the new law runs counter to long-standing Supreme Court precedent.
