Catholic bishops have voted to recommend allowing married men to become priest in remote areas, breaking with century-old tradition of celibacy within the church. A group of Iraqi MPs backed by the populist Cleric Moqtada al-Sadr have announced that they are starting an indefinite sit-in inside the parliament to press the government to accept the demands of anti-government protesters. The MPs are part of Iraqi governing alliance, but they have not made clear if they want to leave the government. The move came after more anti-government protests on Saturday, which killed at least six people.

50,000 more people in California have been ordered to leave their homes, as officials warned that ferocious winds will exacerbate the destructive wildfires, that have taken a hop across the U.S state. The largest blaze has spread over 100 square kilometers.

Police in London has charged the lorry driver over the death of 39 people, found died on a trailer in east of London. Maurice Robinson from Northern Ireland, who is 25, is due in court on Monday, on charges of manslaughter, conspiracy to traffic people and money laundering.

A prominent activist in Ethiopia has accused the prime minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, who won the Nobel prize this month of showing the early signs of being a dictator. The activist Jawar Mohammed told BBC the prime minister is now using repressive laws to stifle dissent.
