In the last hour, so an emergency warning has been issued for an out-of-control bushfire threatening a neighborhood in Melbourne's north. People in north of Melbourne have been told to evacuate. As it stands, we know that eleven emergency fire warnings have been issued in Victoria. The area under the most extreme threat is East Gippsland. It's a very popular holiday destination. About thirty thousand people have been holidaying in that area. But we've seen the fires grow uncontrollable in some parts of East Gippsland, with firefighters having actually to pull out.

As head of the Bank of England, it's been Mark Carney's job to warn about the risks that would lead to a financial shock. Five years ago, he said firms investing in fossil fuels could see their value plummet as nations took steps towards clean energy to protect the climate. At that time, only a handful of major companies were factoring climate change into their planning. Mr. Carney said that number had grown substantially, but there was still a long way to go. Mr. Carney says he fears governments and firms will keep taking measures that are worthy, but not enough. Clearly, the firms either don't believe the message or don't want to believe it.

Just over 12 months ago, we had a shooting in a Synagogue in Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. And we also had an attack earlier this year in April at a Synagogue in San Diego. And people will say it's time to tackle gun violence. And certainly there are a lot of issues about gun control in the United States. But this was a knife that was used. And it does give you that idea that it's about tackling attitudes as well as everything else, which is why it's interesting that New York City mayor Bill de Blasio has suggested that they're going to go into schools, they're going to put on the curriculum concerns on what tackling hate crime, a real attempt to tackle attitudes in America.
