BBC News. Hello, I'm Jerry Smit.

Millions of Iranians have filled the center of Tehran as a coffin carrying the remains of General Qasem Soleimani moves slowly through the streets. The vast event was part of three days of nationwide ceremonies plan to honor the commander who was killed in a US airstrike in Iraq. The mourners past his casket over their heads as they chanted "death to America". Lyse Doucet is our chief international correspondent.

For Iran's leaders, this is not just a mourning ceremony. This is a hugely political statement. This is their first act of revenge. And Javad Zarif, Iran's foreign minister, who like President Trump often takes to Twitter, has directly addressed President Trump and said "did you see the sea of humanity? Look at this". In other words, look at what you have done. You have brought Iranians together, and there's been so much comment across social media. Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei wept as he led prayers. Addressing the crowd, the General's daughter warned the US said it faced a dark day of retaliation. Crazy Trump, you are a symbol of ignorance and a toy in the hands of zionists. You should not think that everything ends with my father's martyrdom.

The most prolific rapist in British criminal history has been sentenced to life by a court in Manchester. Reynhard Sinaga, a 36-year-old Indonesian national used a rape drug to render dozens of male victims unconscious. The PhD student has been convicted of 159 offenses, but officers think he carried out even more. Mabs Hussain, from Manchester police force, says detectives were shocked to discover that Sinaga had filmed all his attacks. This is an absolutely uNPRecedented case. Looking at that amount of evidence is challenging in itself. That's equivalent to 1500 DVD films. We believe there's over 190 victims that have been involved with Reynhard Sinaga and 70 of them are still to be identified approximately.
