ACCRA, May 1 (Xinhua) -- Ghanaian President John Evans Atta Mills on Tuesday promised Ghanaians more jobs and said the China Development Bank's 3 billion U.S. dollars loan would help the job creation.

Speaking at the 2012 May Day celebrations at Sunyani in Ghana's Brong Ahafo region, President Mills congratulated Ghanaian workers for their immense contribution to national development, without which the country would not have been where it had reached in national development.

Ghanaian government recognized job creation as one of the four pillars supporting "Better Ghana Agenda", and Mills assured Ghanaians that CDB's loan would be channeled into various sectors of the economy that will eventually lead to human resource development.

"We recognize that there is the need to produce the kind of atmosphere which will enable the private sector to create jobs. We have targeted certain areas and indeed our procurement of the 3 billion dollars Chinese loan is targeted at sectors which will help create jobs for our people." President Mills said.

Vice President John Mahama, who led one delegation to China last month and signed the agreement for the loan with the China Development Bank, said it will offer the country an opportunity to move its development to unimaginable levels.

Ghana will hold its parliamentary and presidential elections this December while the ruling National Democratic Congress (ND) are facing strong challenges by its main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Mills assured the workers that as president he was alive to his responsibility to ensure peaceful, free and fair elections in December, and he was up to task to deliver on that mandate.
