国内英语新闻:DNA result reveals identity of accident driver
SHENZHEN, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Police in Shenzhen, south China's Guangdong Province, said Wednesday that the speeding car driver Hou Peiqing was the one who caused the fatal accident on Saturday.
Police showed DNA results at a press conference here, saying that Hou was the one who caused the accident, and no one took the fall for him.
Three people were killed and another two injured in the accident when a car collided with two cans when trying to overtake last Saturday.
The DNA results show that the blood stain left in the car belongs to Hou.
The accident has also raised concern over the safety of the BYD electric cars, as one of the cabs involved in the collision is a BYD e6 model.
The BYD cab caught fire after being hit and the three people in the cab were killed on the spot, while the other petrol cab just caused slight injury.
Shenzhen police said the city is examining the safety performance of the BYD cab and is investigating into the cause of the accident.
Shenzhen has 500 BYD electric vehicles used in its public transportation, with 300 cabs and 200 buses.
