国内英语新闻:China supports IAEA's role in resolving nuclear issues

VIENNA, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- China has always supported the nuclear non-proliferation efforts of the international community and the nuclear safeguards activities of the Agency, said Wang Yiren, head of the Chinese delegation, in his statement to the International Atomic Energy Agency(IAEA) general conference Monday.

Wang also stressed the agency has contributed tremendously to preventing the proliferation of nuclear weapons, and safeguarding world peace.

"China has always supported the Agency's role and efforts made in the settlement of hotspot nuclear issues," he addressed.

He also highlighted that in dealing with the Iranian nuclear issue and Korean Penisula nuclear issue, the Agency should continue to keep an objective and fair stance and play a constructive role to promote solution of relevant issues through diplomacy and dialogue.
