国内英语新闻:Senior Chinese official views diplomatic gifts exhibition
BEIJING, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- A senior Chinese official on Thursday visited an exhibition of gifts received by Chinese leaders in diplomatic activities since 1949.
Li Changchun, a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China Central Committee Political Bureau, viewed the displays on show in downtown Beijing's National Museum of China.
The exhibition showcased 611 gifts selected from a total of more than 30,000 received by former leaders of Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zemin and incumbent President Hu Jintao as well as their major aids.
The gifts, on display to the public for the first time, were presented by the leaders of 166 countries and international organizations such as the United Nations.
