BEIJING, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- Communist Party of China (CPC) publicity chief Liu Qibao on Friday urged more efforts to attend to children's mental health issues.
It is the obligation of schools, families and society to care for minors, Liu said at a conference.
Particular attention should be paid to children with special needs, such as those who have been separated from their parents, are homeless or handicapped, said Liu, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.
Guidance should be provided to allow children to live happy and healthy lives, Liu said.
Under Chinese law, people under the age of 18 are considered minors.
