国内英语新闻:Efforts urged to boost social ethics
BEIJING, March 22 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese leader Liu Qibao has called for campaigns to curb behaviors that are against social ethics and morality through both education and punishment.
Liu made the remarks at a meeting held Friday by the Central Commission for Guiding Ethics and Cultural Progress. Liu is vice director of the commission.
According to Liu, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, more efforts should be made to promote professional ethics, family virtues and individual qualities among the public and in various industries.
Stressing ethics in the political, business and law enforcement arenas, Liu called for a public credit system that intimidates potential wrongdoers while punishing those who violate laws and regulations.
Liu highlighted key fields for the ethics-boosting campaigns, such as the food and drug industry, social services and online communities.
