国内英语新闻:Chinese state councilor meets U.S. senator

BEIJING, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- State Councilor Yang Jiechi met with the U.S. Senate's Foreign Relations Committee chairman Robert Menendez on Tuesday, according to a National People's Congress (NPC) press release.

The two sides exchanged views on the China-U.S. relationship as well as international and regional issues of common concern, said the release.

Menendez is visiting China at the invitation of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the NPC.
