国内英语新闻:Dutch PM praises China's reform plan, vows to bolster trade

BEIJING, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said here Saturday that China's new reform plan will bring "notable benefits" for the world and his country will enhance trade and economic ties with China.

Rutte, who just concluded a two-day visit to China, said his meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang in Beijing are both "extremely fruitful."

The Communist Party of China (CPC) has laid out a new reform roadmap after the Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee, a four-day key meeting which ended on Tuesday.

"I really believe that they are tackling some of the big issues. So that was the good news," he said.

So many possibilities are emerging for Dutch-Chinese cooperation, Rutte said.

The leaders of the two countries are working on free trade, the rule of law, the protection of consumer rights and others, which provided those opportunities, he noted.

The prime minister called on China and the Netherlands to cooperate within the World Trade Organization and enhance bilateral trade relations.

"We are working on this from the same point of view that free trade and an open economy are the corner stones of economic development," he said.

He also spoke positively of the cultural contacts between the two countries, highlighting Dutch designers' works in China, such as the yellow rubber duck and the new headquarters building of the China Central Television, the state broadcaster.
