国内英语新闻:Greek president extends Spring Festival wishes to Chinese people

ATHENS, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Greek President Karolos Papoulias attended a Spring Festival celebration at the Chinese Ambassador's official residence in Athens Monday evening, extending warm wishes to the Chinese people for the New Year.

Upon arrival to the official residence of Chinese Ambassador to Greece Zou Xiaoli, Papoulias expressed his conviction that the New Year will witness a dynamic development of bilateral ties.

"I would like on behalf of the Greek people and myself to wish to the Chinese people a Happy New Year -- a year of harmony, peace and progress," the Greek president said.

"I wish to the political leadership of great China strength to fulfill all goals which will contribute to Chinese people's happiness," Papoulias added.

"I am certain that the New Year will be a year of dynamic development of Greek-Chinese relations to the benefit of the two peoples. Once again I wish a Happy New Year and happiness to the Chinese people," Greece's head of state said.
