国内英语新闻:China's National Day celebrated in Cambodia

PHNOM PENH, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- The 65th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China was celebrated here on Friday evening at a reception with the participation of a wide range of high profile figures in Cambodia.

Cambodian President of the National Assembly Heng Samrin is among some 400 participants including Cambodian government officials, members of parliament, senior military officials, diplomatic corps, and Cambodian and Chinese business people.

Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Bu Jianguo said at the event that over the past 65 years, China has made great achievements in national development.

"The rapid growth of China brings huge development benefits for other countries in the world, especially China's neighboring countries including Cambodia," she said, adding that China is willing to further deepen bilateral ties with Cambodia for mutual benefits because Cambodia is a traditional friendly neighbor and an important comprehensive strategic cooperation partner.

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Cabinet Minister Sok An, on behalf of the Cambodian government and people, extended his warm congratulation and best wishes to the government and people of China on the occasion.

He also expressed sincere thanks to China for its generous contributions to the development of Cambodia.

"I am strongly convinced that the long-lasting, traditional friendship and the bilateral cooperation between our two nations and peoples will be further strengthened, especially through the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Cooperation," he said.

At the celebrations, the participants also enjoyed a variety of Chinese dances, songs and operas performed by a troupe of Chinese artists from Soochow University in Suzhou City of eastern China.
