BEIJING, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Premier Li Keqiang has urged better protection of consumers' legitimate rights and interests, as China Consumers' Association (CCA) elected its new head Tuesday.
Li, in a written instruction, ordered that the consumers' associations at various levels should work with all circles of the society to create a safe consumption environment for consumers, and make new contributions to boosting development and improving people's livelihood.
The CCA convened the first meeting of its fifth council Tuesday, at which Zhang Ping, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, was elected new CCA chairman.
Zhang said the CCA will observe the newly amended law on the protection of consumers' rights and interests, and constantly improve the CCA's credibility and influence.
