国内英语新闻:China voices opposition to terrorism after Japanese hostage murder
BEIJING, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- China on Monday reiterated its opposition to terrorism after the murder of a second Japanese hostage by Islamic State (IS) militants.
"China opposes terrorism in all forms and all radical acts against innocent civilians," Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hong Lei told a daily press briefing.
He said China holds that the international community should enhance cooperation and jointly address threats of terrorism in accordance with the UN Charter and other basic norms of international relations so as to safeguard regional and world security and stability.
IS purportedly released a video on the Internet late on Saturday showing that it had beheaded Japanese hostage Kenji Goto.
Last week, it claimed responsibility for beheading Haruna Yukawa, just a few days after the extremist group released a video showing that it was holding the Japanese pair.
