国内英语新闻:Premier advocates "twin engines" for medium-high growth
BEIJING, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Friday advocated to create "twin engines" to realize medium-high-level of growth and development.
Joining a panel discussion with national legislators from Shandong Province, Li said the country would encourage popular entrepreneurship and mass innovation while increasing supply of public goods and services.
Li stressed that major infrastructure projects, such as renovation of rundown urban areas, railway projects and big water conservancy projects, would attract diversified investment in addition to that from the government.
"We should revive the conventional growth engine," he said.
Governments of all levels should be more clear-minded, active and efficient, he said.
The country should adapt to the economic "new normal" with new perspective and work according to the strategy of comprehensively building a moderately prosperous society, deepening reform, advancing the rule of law and strictly governing the Party, he said.
The premier, elected as a deputy to the National People's Congress from Shandong, told the legislators that the province should speed up industrial restructuring, explore maritime industry and upgrade agriculture.
Besides economic development, more efforts should be made to improve public services and raise people's livelihood, he said.
