国内英语新闻:China urges Japan to face up to history
BEIJING, June 26 (Xinhua) -- China on Friday urged Japan to take a correct outlook of history after it announced it would host an international meeting in Hiroshima.
"We expect relevant party to give a comprehensive and accurate introduction of the unfortunate history to the international community," Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang said at a daily press briefing.
Lu's comments came after the Japanese government on Friday announced that next year's Group of Seven foreign ministerial meeting would be held in Hiroshima, where the U.S. dropped an atomic bomb on Aug. 6, 1945.
Japan said Hiroshima was picked to rally international support for nuclear disarmament and noNPRoliferation.
Lu urged Japan, by hosting the event in Hiroshima, to uphold a correct outlook of history and guard against militarism and the path of war.
"That will be good for all parties, including Japan," Lu said.
