国内英语新闻:Premier urges more jobs, better life for disabled
BEIJING, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has urged enhancing vocational skills of the disabled and boost their employment and business creation.
Li made the remarks in a written instruction for the fifth national vocational skill competition for disabled people and the second national Abilympics held in Wuhan City in central China from Saturday to Sunday.
Governments at all levels should strengthen vocational education and training for the disabled. Supportive policies for their employment and business creation should be better implemented, according to the instruction.
Companies and organizations are urged to provide jobs for the disabled in accordance with the law.
Greater efforts of poverty alleviation need to be made to assist disabled people living in rural areas, according to the instruction.
Li also called for helping each disabled people to realize his or her dream of finding jobs and starting businesses to pursue happier lives.
About 850 disabled people from across the country will participate in 24 events including computer skills, fine arts and services.
Exhibitions will also held to display their products and skills.
