国内英语新闻:Chinese premier meets Columbia University president
BEIJING, JAN. 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Li Keqiang met with President of Columbia University Lee Carroll Bollinger on Wednesday.
During their meeting at the Zhongnanhai leadership compound in central Beijing, Li spoke highly of China-U.S. education cooperation, hailing the academic exchanges and the personnel training between Columbia University and China on law education and other areas.
Li said China is willing to enhance cooperation with foreign universities and academic and research institutions including Columbia University to accumulate wisdom and strength from all people via strategies like "Internet Plus". It also looks to train more high-level, internationalized talents for the economic and social development of China so as to realize mutual benefit.
Bollinger said Columbia University attaches great importance to cooperation with China and is ready to discuss promoting cooperation through "Internet Plus Education" in the hope of training more talent for China.
Columbia University is also committed to increasing the West's understanding of China and jointly addressing global issues, he added.
