BEIJING, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- President Xi Jinping urged military leaders to unswervingly follow the Communist Party of China (CPC)'s absolute leadership over the armed forces while meeting with the new heads of reorganized military organs on Monday.

Xi, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), stressed that military leaders must adhere to the Party spirit, obey political discipline, and "be politically intelligent," with firm political faith and right political stance.

Military leaders need to sharpen their political alertness and become better at discerning right and wrong in political matters, Xi added.

Xi urged military leaders to "frequently, actively and resolutely" align their direction with the CPC Central Committee and the CMC.

Xi asked military leaders to always firmly support their authority and staunchly follow their command.

Following the unified leadership of the CMC is the political principle and discipline that military leaders must obey, Xi said, adding that military leaders should also take responsibility for their respective jurisdictions under the unified leadership of the CMC.

Xi also stressed development of CPC committees and officers qualified to be leaders in the military.
