BEIJING, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Xinhua News Agency signed a deal with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) on Friday to strengthen cooperation.
"Xinhua, with its new-media coverage and global news and information collecting and broadcasting network, will make more reports on the SCO, especially its great efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region and the world," said Xinhua President Cai Mingzhao.
Witnessing the signing of the agreement, SCO Secretary-General Rashid Olimov said he hoped the partnership with Xinhua could help the world have a better and more objective understanding of the SCO.
Founded in 2001, the SCO consists of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. It has Afghanistan, India, Iran, Mongolia and Pakistan as observers.
