国内英语新闻:Peng Liyuan attends anti-AIDS activity with G20 leaders' wives
HANGZHOU, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, invited the wives of leaders attending the G20 summit to an anti-AIDS advocacy tour in Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, on Monday.
Peng, as a World Health Organization goodwill ambassador for tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS and an anti-AIDS publicist for China's National Health and Family Planning Commission, said she had been actively supporting and taking part in school tours.
Such activities have been carried out in many Chinese universities to good effect, according to Peng, noting the foreign guests' attendance will have a far-reaching and positive influence.
Peng also called on countries to work together in improving the level of HIV/AIDS prevention and the search for a cure cure.
Peng and the guests watched a film on HIV/AIDS control, listened to the university's anti-AIDS report, and pinned red ribbons to a display to express their support and hopes for HIV/AIDS control.
Some university students talked about their thoughts on HIV/AIDS control, among whom two students were affected by HIV/AIDS.
