国内英语新闻:Xi sends condolences to Indonesian president over deadly earthquake
BEIJING, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday sent a message of condolences to Indonesian President Joko Widodo over a powerful earthquake that hit western Indonesia's Aceh province on Wednesday.
In the message, Xi said he is deeply shocked by the heavy casualties and a huge loss of property in the earthquake.
On behalf of the Chinese government and people, as well as in his own name, Xi offered his deep condolences to the victims in the earthquake, and extended his sincere sympathies to the bereaved families and those injured.
Xi said that China and Indonesia are close neighbors, and China also feels the pains of the Indonesian people.x Xi expressed China's willingness to provide all necessary assistance.
Xi also expressed the belief that under the strong leadership of President Widodo and the Indonesian government, the Indonesian people will surely be able to overcome difficulties and rebuild their homes.
The 6.4-magnitude earthquake has left at least 97 people dead and over 600 others injured.
